Join fellow New York runners and walkers on Saturday, September 29th for the 7th Annual New Hope 5K Run/Walk for Healthy Communities. USATF certified and electronically timed, this classic road race is ideal for short distance runners and walkers or those wanting to warm up for longer races. The race begins along 118th Avenue in Jamaica (just west of historic Roy Wilkins Park), filters out to Baisley Boulevard (shadowing scenic Baisley Pond Park), and then proceeds along residential Foch Boulevard --- a great way to experience Southeast Queens! The 5K Race begins at 9:30 a.m. (check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.) and a 1K Fun Run for kids 12 years and under will take place at 11:00 a.m. Free t-shirts will be distributed to those that register online by September 10th. Awards for overall top runners and walkers, and for top runners in every age category. Proceeds to benefit Lutheran Social Services and the ELCA Malaria Campaign.
